Product Concept
Plúm, referring to the word ‘pluma’ in Spanish, was inspired by the weightlessness and airiness of a feather. Pluma also relates to birds which are prominent in Aztec mythology and Mexican history. The historical context of a feather is interconnected with the sacredness of feathers in Mexican culture and Mexican feather craft. As a result, the feather in its artistic, colored form was the inspiration to be a focal point in this App to tie in with my Mexican heritage.
With this in mind, I believe that everyone deserves to feel as weightless and colorful as a feather even during the most stressful times of their everyday lives. With Plúm we can bring you relaxation. Our product is targeted for the use of everyone as our neutral colors are non-specific to gender but rather more in relation to the open, airiness of our nature.
Simply blow your stress away when you receive a color notification to your ring through the modern, geometric, chevron design. Look and feel great!
As you are connected to the Plúm App watch your feather float with each breath and feel relaxed once your feather reaches the air.
It’s time to Plúm into your everyday life!
Design System
Established a brand identity by creating a design system.
Following the Gestalt rules to establish coherent margin spacing and typography.
I wanted to continue the airiness of a feather as a focus therefore I chose light weighted fonts.
Hand-drawn digital sketches help me visually communicate how I envision my product co-existing with the user.
After three rounds of design iterations with feedback from industry experts; Jonathan Black (from The Office of Ordinary Things) and Lisa Prescott (from Workshop @ Airbnb) I developed interactive UI screens using Figma.
