Talavera Tile AR Design
Immersive cultural experiences through Artificial Reality art.
Project Details:
Tools used: Unity, Vuforia, Visual Studio Code, Miro, Illustrator, Blender
Client: Master of Design, Designing Emerging Technologies course
Timeline: 4 weeks
This project uses AR as a way to bring art pieces to life by expanding into a three-dimensional space. This form becomes a medium of telling a story through the immersive experience with the object. The goal was to introduce us to AR technology.
Project Brief
Used Javascript, HTML, and CSS to code animations onto image target on visual studio code. A key finding that I learned was that coding animation takes more time because you have to import your script onto Unity and solve all errors before the animation can work.
A little glimpse of my design process.
Here I demonstrate some of my brainstorming sketches as well as some photos I have captured along my process through this project. I hand drew my image target, took it into Adobe Illustrator to create a digital version, and then uploaded it into Unity. This project taught me how to create a simple 3D model of a flower using Blender 3D modeling software and I created a few 3D model shapes using Adobe Dimensions. I also grew a fascination with the software exploration of using Unity for AR rendering.
